About Glenn's Chess Why? I love the game of chess, and love teaching, so this is a natural marriage of the two for me. I also love kids, and have seen how good they can be at chess at a very young age, when I played them in tournaments. It was from that experience that I decided to be one of the teachers who enabled them to be so good, and to love the game as I do. When I was a young chess player, I had a mentor who taught me strategy which I remember to this day, and I wanted to pass on to others what my mentor passed on to me. I also believe that chess sharpens the mind in the areas of analytical thinking, decision making, focusing attention (great for A.D.D. children), and visualization.
Playing Since? 1957 (was in a Chess Club in Brooklyn at the same time Bobby Fisher was becoming famous and was in Brooklyn, but never played him).
Clubs: Burlingame Chess, Bay Area Chess, ICC (Internet Chess Club).
Favorite Opening: White: Morphy Gambit; Black: Sicilian Defense (Dragon Variation, Yugoslav Attack).
Favorite Strategy: Be on the offense so as to make the opponent move in order to defend.
