International Master Ricardo De Guzman's Profile...
Coach Ricardo De Guzman is an International Master and the has won more prizes for his performance in local chess tournaments than anyone else! He has consistently been one of the highest rated chess players in the area and finished 2007 at the rating of 2463. IM De Guzman continues to remind us that he considers himself a student of chess. In his younger days, IM Ricardo De Guzman was on World Champion and Grand Master Bobby Fisher's paid staff as a sparring partner. I am honored to have his talent and love of teaching to bring to the children.
Among the outstanding students are reigning Philippine National Champion 2008, IM John Paul Gomez, rated over 2500, IM Oliver Barbosa, rated 2400, Paolo Del Mundo (a former member of the Maryland Varsity Chess Team, rated currently over 2300, Arianne Caoili, a former Philippine women's champion, Alex Stefsefandt, and Drake Wang.
