All sections are open to players of all ages (even though you will find a higher percentage of younger players in the Under 1000 sections).

    1. School & Club Teams consist of 2 or more players.
    2. The sum of the top 4 (or fewer) players' scores (in all sections combined) constitutes the team score.
    3. The trophies are different sizes; the higher players/schools/clubs will earn larger trophies than the lower placed players/schools/clubs.
  • What's New?

    1. We have added the 2022 US G/10 National Championship to the weekend with G/30 and G/60 National events.
    2. The tournament is back in the Bay Area.
  • What's Expected?

    1. Come as you are! We welcome all players regardless of their rating and playing level.
    2. US Chess membership is required; if you're not a current member, you must renew/signup for US Chess membership with your tournament registration so we can process and reconcile your entry.
    3. We will use the July 2022 Supplement and TD discretion to determine players' ratings and place them accurately.

    • After Registering

      1. Check Processed Entries to confirm registration (available one week before the tournament).
      2. Use this form for changes/corrections.
      3. Add @bayareachess.com to safe senders so you can receive emails with orientation and other notifications.
      4. Reconfirm the email address and other information in your profile.
      5. Check this page the day before the tournament for orientation information.

    • Financial Transparency

      1. The entry fees for members are slightly lower based on a donation by the Azhar Family.
      2. The entry fees for non-members are slightly higher due to inflation and the extra cost of COVID prevention protocols.
