I’d like to rehash a blog I wrote a few years ago for Chess.com, entitled “Developing Knowledge & Skill”, where I introduced the idea that chess performance can be broken down into two things: ideas that we specifically learn (knowledge) and our ability to solve complex problems within a certain timeframe (skills).
